We did it for Norrie Exhibition opens

Wednesday, 30th Dec 2015

Many previously unseen items and photographs, some loaned for the exhibition by the McCathie Family.

As part of the events commemorating the 20th anniversary of the untimely death on 8 January 1996 of Pars captain and legend Norrie McCathie, a free exhibition opened on Tuesday at East End Park. It has been put together by Dunfermline Athletic Heritage Trust, and includes many previously unseen items and photographs, some loaned for the exhibition by the McCathie Family. The exhibition’s theme is #SPIRIT, which Norrie showed in every one of his 15 years and 563 appearances for the Pars.

Our picture shows Trust Secretary John Simpson with volunteers Jim Macdonald and Gordon McKenzie. They are holding Norrie’s No 4 shirt, along with the last boots he wore for the Pars two days before he died, and a match ball signed by Norrie and the squad.

The exhibition hours are from 11am to 3pm, and it is fully accessible to wheelchair users. It is open prior to Saturday’s match against Cowdenbeath, where a number of other events will take place to mark the occasion. It will open again from Tuesday 5 Jan to Saturday 9 Jan, and on Friday 15 and Sat 16 January.

John Simpson said: “The term “Legend” is often used loosely, but Norrie was that and so much more – all football fans should visit this exhibition to see why.”
