Three and in Lafferty
Thursday, 11th Aug 2016Following his release from Celtic, nineteen year old striker Ciaran Lafferty has signed for Dunfermline.
Brought up in Glenboig, Ciaran Lafferty played boys club football before signing for the team he followed at the age of 12. He was at Celtic for seven years and had a three year professional contract during that time. Speaking exclusively to this website he said:-
"It was time to move on. I didn`t play much in the last couple of years. I had injuries but they had a big squad. First team players who didn`t get a game would come down and play. It was quite hard to get in the team."
Like earlier signing Euan Spark, Ciaran was spotted at the PFA trials at Broadwood before the start of this season and having caught the eye of Allan Johnston was invited to come and trial at Dunfermline.
"I got an injury and was out for a couple of weeks but I have played three games and scored three goals. That has earned me enough to get signed, I was glad."
The former Celtic youth has been signed until the end of January but he hopes during that time to impress and stay injury free.
"If I do well for the 20s I will be involved with the first team a lot more. That is what I am aiming for."
Self confessed `quite quick` Ciaran did not really do a pre season so he hopes to get more game time to catch up. He played in the closed doors match against Dundee on Monday, scoring the Pars only goal and he described what to expect of him when he is match sharp.
"I like to run in behind defences and like every striker I want to score goals. Hopefully that is what I can do that for the team. The more games I play the fitter I will get."
