Nervous time for Pars fans

Wednesday, 20th Mar 2013

"Everybody is important, but the taxman is the one we have to deal with initially ...

JIM LEISHMAN

Jim Leishman knew from the time that the Dunfermline Athletic Steering Group was formed a fortnight ago that it didn't have much time. He told the media on Tuesday:-

"We just have to keep working hard. We are doing a due diligence just now and we have got to get as much information as we can.  Everybody is a bit nervous just now.  We said at the meeting at the Carnegie Hall that we don't want people coming in and putting money in and then 3 or 4 weeks later they are going to lose that money.

"We want to make sure that they don't do that.  We want to try our best that when we do say 'right c'mon lads we need you Dunfermline supporters, this is the day'.  People are ready to do that and that is what we are working hard to achieve.  Before we make that statement we have got to come up with ways that they are not going to lose that money."

Council business took the Provost to Germany last week but he was kept up to date while away from East End Park. He feels that there are both positives and negatives:-

"We have got to get as many of the negatives out of the road before we can go forward. There are people willing to pledge £100, £1000, £2000 it is all different amounts. The biggest issue we have to do now is get all the behind the scenes stuff done - the due diligence and what we are all due, we have to find out different things. It is gradually coming together, but has to be done very quickly.

"We still need the Dunfermline fans and I am sure they will come and support the team. The players showed their appreciation to me today, when I was talking to them, when they got the support on Saturday. The fans have been 100% behind the players and the staff - "magnificent" was the word that was used this morning.  I'm sure the Manager will reiterate that.

"Everybody is important, but the taxman is the one we have to deal with initially. The short term problems we have got to solve and then you have to get it through to the end of the season, and then you have to have a plan, a structure to go forward as Dunfermline Athletic Football Club.  That is what we have to do.

"All the fans have got to come in and be part of that.  People are comparing this to Rangers, but we are not Glasgow Rangers, we are Dunfermline Athletic.  We are a big team from West Fife and we should be proud of our 128 years. "

Jim Leishman is congratulated on the birth on Thursday 14th March of his second grandchild, Laurie. Another Pars fan.
