Lee believes League can be won
Monday, 20th Aug 2018“Going forward if we can compete with Hearts then we should compete with any team in our league.
Pars goalkeeper Lee Robinson was disappointed that his side’s good performance against the Premier League leaders, Hearts, ended in defeat. He said:-
“They have big strong lads but player for player, I felt we showed that we were better players.”
The 32 year old claimed that confidence would be high going into the Ladbrokes Championship games:-
“I thought we were the better team. Going forward if we can compete with Hearts then we should compete with any team in our league.
“There have been loads of changes, we have some right good footballers now, a team of good footballers, it is great. If we do the right things and don’t make little mistakes then I think we have a right good chance to win the league.”
Lee described his view of the only goal of the game:-
“I did not see it until late. That was their one shot on target and it is hard to take.”
He felt that his Hearts counterpart, keeper Zdenek Zlamal was the difference between the two teams:-
“We could have had three or four and been out of sight early on. He did really well late on when we had chances.” Referring to the Czech keeper’s save midway through the second half, Lee continued:-
“There was a volley from Faiss, a volley, that could have been goal of the season. “
Lee’s efforts to get his back into the tie with sorties well out of his goal led to his manager calling him eccentric and some suggested that his style was known in some parts as a “Maddy”:-
“I have been doing that since I was a kid, it is nothing different really. When everyone is knackered late on I had a bit of energy so I should have done a lot better. I probably should have beat the full back!”
