The Under 19s obviously enjoyed playing on a Saturday morning given that they put up a fine performance for an away win against tough opponents who were looking for a win to see them leapfrog the fourth placed Pars.
The match at the Craig Gowans Centre at Stirling almost saw the hosts score first in 13 minutes. A miscued clearance from Pars keeper Ryan Goodfellow dropped for Scott Davidson to loop a shot at goal and it was fortunate that the ball broke off the crossbar.
Next minute a mistake at the other end let Conor SCHIAVONE in to put the Pars ahead. It was a weak header back to the keeper that let the Pars striker volley the ball into the net. The lead was almost increased in 17 minutes when the crossbar saved Falkirk and Steven Leslie claimed that his follow up had crossed the line before the keeper cleared.
It became 2-0 though ten minutes later when LESLIE latched on to a through ball from Blair McWhirter, brushed off a couple of challenges and smashed the ball past the advancing Bowman.
Fraser Moncrieff was miraculously kept out by Bowman in 31 minutes but five minutes later Falkirk grabbed a goal back. A diagonal ball out to the right wing was well taken by DAVIDSON and he crashed the ball past Goodfellow.
Half Time: Falkirk 1 Dunfermline 2
Dunfermline were out of the traps fast in the second half with MacDonald pumping in a cross and then making Bowman save his powerful shot. In 56 minutes the Pars scored a third. Schiavone`s corner from the right was met by Grant Munro`s header. That came back off the crossbar and LESLIE, forever the predator, finished from close in.
Falkirk tried to recover the situation but as they ran out of ideas Aaron Scott headed a Leslie cross inches wide of the left post. Dunfermline fought to the end, pegging Falkirk back with sub Blair Henderson coming close to connecting for a fourth. No problem though as the 19s got their revenge for their extra time Youth Cup elimination by Falkirk back in November.
