CELTIC RESERVES 3 DUNFERMLINE RESERVES 0

Dunfermline Athletic are delighted to be competing in the SPFL Reserve League for 2018/19.

The first division of the Reserve League comprises 18 clubs, who will play each other once for a total of 17 matches across the season.

The first fixture took place on Monday afternoon when the Pars traveled to Cappielow to face Celtic. Both sides fielded young players with possibly Celtic full back Anthony Ralston the most experienced on show. Celtic`s attack was led by former Pars youth, PJ Crossan.

Dunfermline attacked the goal at the open away end. Both teams won corners in the opening two minutes, Celtic were awarded a free kick on the left edge of the Pars box that was taken quickly and Paul Allan cleared.

Crossan accepted a Ralston cross to fire over in eight minutes fired and at the other end a delivery from Brandon Luke was sent behind at the back post by Calum Smith. There followed a couiple of warnings for the away team as Ralston`s cross was deflected off Stuart Morrison for a corner and then Calvin Miller hit Cammy Gill`s crossbar.

Gregor Jordan cleared a Ralston cross in 20 minutes but two minutes later attempted to do the same again by sliding in but only deflected the ball past Gill for a Celtic opener. 1-0

Both sides forced corners but the best Dunfermline effort came from Smith ten minutes before the interval but his shot cleared the bar. Gill saved a fierce shot from Miller and Morrison conceded another corner when Miller sent in a dangerous cross. Henderson`s delivery was cleared by the Pars before the sides went in. Celtic had enjoyed the bulk of the pressure but there was only one goal in it as the teams changed ends.

Half Time: Celtic 1 Dunfermline 0

Lewis McCann forced a save from Celtic keeper Hazard but the home side were to increase their lead four minutes later. Ewan HENDERSON with a 56th minute goal. 2-0

There was a reaction from the Dunfermline players. Hazard had to hold a Luke cross, Lewis Crosbie sent over a cross that was just too high for Trialist and so Hazard again gathered. Trialist headed an Allan ball wide before at the other end a dangerous ball from Miller was deflected off Morrison for a corner on the right. Henderson played that in but Duffy headed over for a goal kick.

PJ was next to try an attempt but his 66th minute shot went high and wide. Celtic made a double substitution in 69th minute introducing Jack Aitchison and Grant Savoury for Scott Robertson and Benyu Kundai. Stevie Crawford also made his first sub of the game four minutes later bringing on Kieran Swanson for Stuart Morrison. That meant the sub went to right back and Josh Robertson moved into central defence beside Jordan.

In between substitutions Jordan had dealt with a Ralston cross and PJ had fired another shot wide. Robertson immediately had to deal with an Aitchison effort that was blocked and then cleared.

Ralston hit the post with a 78th minute shot and very quickly Celtic followed up with attempts from Aitchison and Ralston that were successfully kept out. Gill made a good save to prevent Crossan in 89 but the result was already in no doubt.

Matty Todd assumed responsibility for a 90th minute free kick won by Luke thirty yards out but the defence headed out and Swanson hit the follow up over the top.

Celtic were to rub in the salt when Wallace DUFFY headed home from a Henderson corner in the second minute of time added on. Three goals and three points for Celtic.
